On hiring, their words are: they are assembling “a lean, cracked team of the world's best engineers and researchers dedicated to focusing on SSI and nothing else,” and they frame the offer as a chance to “do your life's work.”

They are an American company with offices in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv. Their structure is described as insulating “safety, security, and progress” from short-term commercial pressure, with no product cycles and no management overhead to distract from the work.

Read the word “lean” literally

Every signal points the same way. A small team, a single objective, no product, no public listings to speak of, and no recruiting funnel to feed. Companies hiring like this source through networks: people their researchers already know, or people whose published work reached them.

This is the one lab in this series where the realistic advice is not about your application. It is that a cold submission is unlikely to be the thing that works, and that the alternative is producing work visible enough to reach them.

What that means practically

If you want to be considered here, the leverage is almost entirely in what you have published. Research that a researcher there would encounter. Open source that people in the field actually use. Results specific enough that someone can evaluate you from them without an interview.

That is a years-long strategy rather than an application tactic, and it is worth being honest that it is not available to everyone. If it is not available to you right now, the other labs in this series hire at volume, publish their processes and accept cold applications.

The practical version

• Expect very few public listings. Their board is genuinely close to empty most of the time.
